Event Counter

Question

Is there any way to reset the event counter without restarting the daemon.

Environment

Motion version:	3.2.7
ffmpeg version:
Libraries:	ffmpeg, mysql, postgresql
Server OS:

Answer

Hi,

You can signal Motion with a SIGHUP, this will re-read the config files and reset the event counter. It peforms effectively a restart, without you having to terminate the process and re-start it.

I do this every night at midnight on my installation.

kill -1 'pid-of-motion'
or
killall -HUP motion
